I want to create a few pieces inspired by High Line and bridge trusses. I want to create an urban garden, where sharp lines and plants meets to create a maze.
So far I have created 2 pieces.
What I don’t like about both
- Design-wise something is missing, I can’t quite tell. Neither look 3d-ish structure.
- Construction-wise - solering, polishing, patina, small stone setting - none of the work is good enough.
What I don’t like about the silver one
- It is big, so there are way too much empty spaces
- Construction is wonky, lines are not square
- The cross trusses are misaligned, adds to the confusion by creating uneven spaces
- There was no plan, so the stone base plates are not complimenting each other
- One brooch pin is showing through the front, the other isn’t
- The stone base plates are too big. Initially thought the stones to add pop of color. But the base plates are consuming way more space
- Polishing the trusses between the two layers was not good
What I don’t like about the copper one
- Though construction is better, it has to get much better. Lines either need to square or maintain some symmetry so it allows the flowers, stones to be the abrupt eye-catching interest
- Polishing the trusses between the two layers proved very difficult. I need to use lot less solder.
- There was some plan, I planned to create 2 identical structures and lay them on top of each other
- I thought the patina on the flowers will give it more focal interest. Patina isn’t done well. Also, something is still missing. I can’t quite tell.
- I do like the flowers though, they are stamped out of shot block - I like the rusticness.
- I don’t like uneven polishing, finishing.
